C-A-T® Tactical Tourniquets
The C-A-T® is the 1st choice of the U.S. Army,
The Combat Application Tourniquet® (C-A-T®) (Patent Pending) is
a small and lightweight
one-handed tourniquet that completely occludes arterial blood flow in an
extremity. The C-A-T®
uses a Self-Adhering Band and a Friction Adaptor Buckle to fit a wide range of
extremities
combined with a one-handed windlass system. The windlass uses a free moving
internal band
to provide true circumferential pressure to an extremity. The windlass is then
locked in place; this
requires only one hand, with the Windlass Clip™. The C-A-T® also has a
Hook-and-Loop Windlass
Strap™ for further securing of the windlass during patient transport.

Tourniquets Retention Device (TRD)
The Tourniquet Retention Device (TRD) was designed out of necessity by a
Special Forces 18D
(Special Operations Medical Sergeant). When his detachment was issued Tourniquet
s he
noticed a shortfall, they were issued without a pouch or means to secure the
tourniquet to his gear.
The Tourniquet is a life saving device and should be worn where it is readily
accessible and not
stowed in a backpack or a rucksack.
The Tourniquet Retention Device (TRD) is the solution. It was designed to be
MOLLE compatible,
readily accessible and to be worn on the wearer’s non-firing side. The unique
design of the Tourniquet
Retention Device (TRD) allows the wearer or the person rendering aid to remove
the Tourniquet from
the Tourniquet Retention Device (TRD) in two easy steps: 1) Pull down on the
lower elastic retention
webbing and 2) Pull the tourniquet from the upper elastic retention webbing.
This can be done quickly
with either one or two hands.
